Pastor Ernest E. Mackins was born to the late James John Mackins and Lillie Bell (Bonnie) Lowery Mackins of Rockhill, South Carolina. Rev. Mackins is the third in a lineage of four siblings. He is married to the former Mrs. Erica L. Henderson, and they have two children. He and his family have resided in Anderson, South Carolina, for the last 24 years. Pastor Mackins received his undergraduate degrees in Finance and Marketing (Double Major) from Clemson University, Master of Middle School Science 5th-9th Grade, Clemson University, Master of School Administration and School Leadership, Furman University, Master of Divinity in Christian Leadership and Church Ministries from Liberty University Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Educational Leadership from Converse University. Rev. Mackins has worked in public education for 27 years and is now employed by Greenville County School System as the Co-Chair of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department at Berea High School. He is an educator by trade and a Pastor by call.
Pastor Mackins was called to ministry on January 25, 2009, while attending the Mount Nebo II Missionary Baptist Church in Seneca, South Carolina. Reverend Mackins was Ordained on December 3, 2017, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Anderson, South Carolina. Reverend Mackins served faithfully at several churches as Associate Minister for over fifteen years. Rev. Mackins was soon called to Pastor the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Anderson, SC. Pastor Mackins has served faithfully since he was called, and he not only talks the talk, but he also walks in his calling as Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Pastor Mackins is the current Parliamentarian for the Anderson County Congress of Christian Education (ACCCE) in the Rocky River Baptist Association of Anderson County, which consists of 38 churches. His mission is to help people build a relationship with Jesus Christ and to develop an entirely devoted life to Jesus Christ.
